The work of the council is undertaken by five committees which meet during the year. Each committee makes recommendations to the full council for agreement, although the Planning committee is delegated to make decisions so that planning applications can be discussed in a timely manner.
Councillors can join one or more committees, and the chair and vice chair of the council are automatically members of all of them. The Staff Management committee is made up of the chairs of each of the other committees, and the chair and vice chair of the council.
